Meghalaya govt decides to extend lockdown till April 30
The Meghalaya government has decided to extend the lockdown till April 30, as part of its precautionary measures to prevent spread of COVID-19 pandemic into the state.
The decision was taken by the Cabinet during its meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday, one day ahead before the 21 days nationwide lockdown ends.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the cabinet has discussed about the restrictions after the nationwide lockdown.
“We have decided that the lockdown will continue with effect from April 15 till April 30,” he announced.
Tynsong also informed that the inter-state movement will continue to be sealed from all entry-exit points throughout the state.
The cabinet has also decided to restrict inter-district movement within the state. “Based on the inputs received from the different deputy commissioners, it is decided that inter-district movement will not be allowed till such time that the government feels it necessary to revisit (the same),” he said.
Tynsong however maintained that migrant workers from one district and who are stranded in shelter homes of another district will be allowed to move out of these shelter homes to their respective houses within the state.
The transportation for such migrant workers will be monitored by the transport department and the concerned deputy commissioners, he added.
