Meghalaya Govt sanctioned Rs 26 crore for completion of incomplete Iawmusiang Market Complex
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced the sanction of Rs. 26 crores for the completion of the pending construction of the Iawmusiang Market Complex, Jowai.
The announcement was made by Sangma in his address to the Niamtre faithful during the final day of the Behdienklam Festival at Aitnar, Chiliangraij, Jowai on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the generosity of the Seinraij Jowai for donating their lands for the construction of Parking Lots in Jowai Town.
Meanwhile, talking to media persons on the sideline of the Behdienklam Festival, Sangma said the Iawmusiang market complex issue was a very, very complicated issue as the Government faced several hurdles for the past many years.
He also said that the Iawmusiang Market Complex project saw multiple challenges but “I am happy to inform that we have decided as a government to absorb all of those challenges.”
The Chief Minister informed that amount of Rs 26 crore will be funded completely by the state.
“This is a very important project for the people of Jowai and Jaintia Hills in general and a project that’s very close to my heart also because it was initiated by my late father and hence we are committed to complete it,” said Sangma the third offspring of Late Purno A Sangma.
He also said that they expect that the tendering process should take place in about two three weeks time and they are hopeful that the work order will be allotted to the eligible contractor within the next 60 days.
