Meghalaya Govt succumbed to SSA teachers and released 4-month salaries
After four long days of stern agitation, the Meghalaya Govt on Thursday succumbed to the SSA teachers who braves the sun the rain and the long cold night by agreeing to release four months salaries within the end of July this year.
The SSA teachers under the umbrella of MSSASA staged an indefinite sit in protest from monday at Parking Lots near Additional Secretariat, Shillong for the failure of the Govt to release five months salaries amongst other demands.
According to an official communique issued by the Education department a high level meeting in the office chamber of Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister was held in the presence of Minister and Officials of the Education department and Officials of Finance department.
The Deputy Chief Minister asked the Education department to present the grievances of the agitating teachers.
After a threadbare discussion alongwith inputs from Finance department, the State Government will release the pending Salary Capping norms amounting to Rs.44.0 crore by the end of the day
The State government will replenish the Corpus Fund of Rs.78.0 crore, which will be refunded when the first installment is received from GOI and the Education department to send the proposal by the end of the day.
The above amount will be able to cater to the payment of four months pending salaries of the teachers as soon as the amount is credited to the SNA account and in any case not later than the 27th July this month.
The agitating teachers should withdraw their agitation with immediate effect.
The remaining one-month salary will be paid on received of fund from Government of India.
