Meghalaya Govt to launch Td Vaccination Campaign for school children

The Department of Health & Welfare, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Government of Meghalaya, will conduct a Td Vaccination Campaign for school children from March 10 to 13, 2025.
The initiative aims to ensure that students aged 10 and 16 receive their required Td booster doses to protect against tetanus and diphtheria.
The campaign targets children aged 10 (but not yet 11) and 16 (but not yet 17), ensuring continued immunity into adulthood. The Td vaccine is crucial in preventing tetanus, a potentially fatal bacterial infection, and diphtheria, a serious respiratory disease.
Health experts highlight key benefits of the Td vaccine, including long-term immunity, protection against severe complications, and the prevention of outbreaks. It also strengthens community immunity, safeguarding those who cannot be vaccinated due to health conditions.
Parents and guardians are urged to ensure their children receive the vaccine. For further details, school authorities and local health centers can be contacted.
