Meghalaya govt to take a call on reopening of places of worship on Friday
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said the government will take a call on re-opening of places of worship after taking the views and suggestions of all religious groups.
Addressing media persons, Sangma informed that he will convene a meeting with all religious organizations to discuss the issue related to the matter on Friday.
He said it may not be possible for the government to call every single group but it will try to call as many as possible.
“We are going to take their views and suggestions and then we can take the discussion forward and accordingly come up with whatever is the most appropriate protocol without really affecting the sentiments of religious groups,” said the CM.
It may be mentioned here that places of worship including churches in the state have remained shut for the past two months owing to the national lockdown to combat against the COVID-19 pandemic.
