Meghalaya Govt to take action against protocols violation
The state government has warned to take stern action against people who violate the protocols including maintaining physical distancing and wearing masks issued by the health department to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the state.
After chairing a review meeting on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the issue was discussed after seeing people have started to take the protocols of the government very lightly.
“In view of this, we have decided to request the local authorities including the headmen to ensure protocols are strictly adhered to by the people,” he said.
He said just because Meghalaya is having the least cases of COVID-19, it does not mean that people are safe. “Let me remind you that the battle is still on and we need the cooperation of all citizens, dorbar shnongs and others,” Tynsong added.
Asked, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the government has directed the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of the different districts to take action against violators of the protocols.
“We have given full authority to the DCs and SPs to take necessary action against violators,” he said.
