Meghalaya govt warns action against HNLC sympathizers
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Wednesday warned stern action against sympathizers of the banned Khasi militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
This came a day after the IED blast attack by the outfit at a busy Laitumkhrah market which injured at least two civilians.
“HNLC is a banned organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Therefore, the provisions of the UAPA will be invoked against any sympathizer or people who are conniving with this organization,” Rymbuil told reporters.
Security in and around Shillong city have been beefed up following the blast incident.
Rymbui however expressed confidence that in no time the police will solve the case with the support of the citizens.
