Meghalaya Guv to push for MRSSA, says it will solve lots of problems
Governor, Satya Pal Malik will leave for Delhi today to meet the union home minister Amit Shah for discussing the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
Malik also maintained that the inner line permit (ILP) is not his agenda since the issue has to be discussed between the central and state government.
“I am going (to Delhi) and I will be there for 5-6 days and I am sure that I will meet him (Amit Shah). I will raise all these issues but my agenda is not ILP. I am going there to talk about the development of the state, law and order situation and whatever reviews we have done in the last one week and I will talk about pending MRSSA,” Malik said.
Stating that the MRSSA is doable, the governor said, “Basically this MRSSA must be passed but I will take the opinion of the MHA, I will try to convince them that this is doable, you do it and after that lots of problems will be solved.”
“I have studied this MRSSA and after that I am sure after the app of the tourism ministry you don’t need ILP but let me tell you don’t say that I am opposed to ILP…,” he added.
When asked if there was any communication from the Centre as one year has lapsed since the ILP resolution was passed by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the governor however said, “I am not coming to this controversy, for me this issue is not in my table, this is between central and state government. They should go there and talk.”
