Meghalaya health minister tests positive for COVID-19, after 8 days of isolation
Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek has tested positive for COVID-19, a week after returning to the state from New Delhi.
Confirming this on Sunday, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the minister was tested positive on Saturday.
Hek returned from his official visit to the national capital on October 18. Earlier his daughter was also tested positive for coronavirus.
“When reaching the state, his (Hek) rapid antigent test came out negative. However after eight days of undergoing home isolation, he was again tested and it came out positive,” Dr War said.
Asked, the Director of Health Services said that the minister is asymptomatic and will have to undergo for another 10 days isolation.
“After 10 days, he will again be tested,” he said.
During his visit to New Delhi, the health minister had met union ministers and BJP central leaders.
