Meghalaya home minister holds meeting with headmen, wholesalers in EJH
Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui on Saturday held a meeting with the headmen of the different villages, retailers and wholesalers of food grains in East Jaintia Hills to discuss the availability and distribution of food grains and other essential commodities in the district.
Rymbui informed that the government will facilitate and assist the wholesalers in transportation of essential commodities so as to prevent any shortage of the same. The minister also said that the district administration has already identified the supply areas and shops in different parts of the district to ensure that distribution of essential commodities reach the people.
The minister also appealed to all retailers not to take advantage of the situation by overpricing their commodities and said that Government is monitoring the pricing of good and commodities and if any case of overcharging is reported by the public strict action will be taken against the concerned retailer.
The minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that there is availability of money in ATMs in the District to ease transaction by the public.
The meeting was also attended by Sniawbhalang Dhar, Transport Minister, Kyrmen Shylla, Social Welfare Minister, Shitlang Pale, MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla, MLA. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, FM Dopth, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Vivekanand Singh were among others who were also present in the meeting.
