Meghalaya increases upper age limit of SSA teachers to 45 years for government school recruitment
The state government on Wednesday decided to increase the upper age limit for serving SSA teachers to 45 years making them eligible to apply in the ongoing recruitment for teacher posts in the government schools right from the lower primary upto higher secondary level.
The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Conrad K Sangma at Resubelpara, North Garo Hills District.
Addressing media persons, education minister Rakkam A Sangma said, “The cabinet has approved the proposal for relaxation of the age limit of the serving SSA teachers for participation in the recruitment in government lower primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools upto 45 years from now onwards.”
“Those who have already been appointed in the SSA with due process, they will be allowed to participate in the recruitment process upto the age of 45 years,” he added.
Recently, the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has served a two-month ultimatum to the state government for coming up with a policy to regularise the services of over 13000 SSA teachers in the state.
The government had assured to work out a formula to address the issues concerning the SSA teachers.
