Meghalaya Kurash athletes shines in the 1st East Zone Kurash Championship 2019

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Kurash athletes performed much better in the recent concluded 1st East Zone Kurash Championship 2019 under the aegis of Kurash Association of India, held in Tripura from the 24^th – 28^th May 2019. Meghalaya bagged a total of 15 medals comprising of 4 golds, 1 silver and 10 bronze .

Kurash  means “reaching your goal with the just or fair way” is one of the oldest martial being played in Central Asia 3500 years back originating from Uzbekistan and India have already shown it’s presence with one medal each in Silver and Bronze at the Asian Games 2018 held in Indonesia last year.

Gold Medal: 

1. Ibalarisha L Nonglait  below 24 Kg Sub-Junior Girl, Student of Pynthorumkhrah Golflink HS Schools, resident of Pynthorumkhrah.
2. Larisha L Nonglait below 32 Kg Junior Girl of Vilco Secondary School and resident of Pynthorumkhrah.
3. Shilpi Banroi below 40 Kg Junior Boys of Vilco Secondary School resident of Pynthorumkhrah.
4. Sabinus Jasain, Senior Men below 55 Kg resident of Nongmynsong.

Silver Medal: 

1. Emiliana Susngi, Sub-junior Girl below 28 Kg student of Gov’t Girl’s H. S. School and resident of Mawpat.

Bronze Medal: 

1. Hazellyne Warjri, Sub-junior Girl below 24 Kg student of Stephen Memorial Sec School Mawroh and resident of Mawlai Mawroh.
2. Juliana Warjri, Sub-junior below 28 Kg student of Stephen Memorial Secondary School and resident of Mawlai Mawroh.
3. Susie Lyndem, Junior Girl above 40 Kg stident of Vilco Secondary  School and resident of Pynthorumkhrah.
4. Ribok Nongbri, Senior Men below 55 Kg resident of Mawpat.
5. Melabatskhen Marbaniang, Junior Boys below 45 Kg student of  Vilco Secondary School and resident of Mawpat.
6. Sylvian Kharkongor, Sub-junior Girl below 40 Kg student of St. Clarets HS School and resident of Mawpat.
7. Wanraplang Myrthong Junior Boy’s below 50 Kg student of Sacred Heart Boy’s HS School and resident of Mawlai Motsyiar.
8. Vivek Bynroi, Sub-junior Boy’s below 35 Kg student of Vilco Secondary School and resident of Pynthorumkhrah.
9. Richfield Wahlang, Sub-junior Boy’s below 35 Kg student of Presbyterian Secondary School and resident of  Pynthorumkhrah.
10. Bobita Roy, Sub-junior Girl below 36 Kg student of Vilco Secondary School and resident of Pynthorumkhrah.
