Meghalaya logs 406 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death
The state on Saturday recorded one more COVID-19 related death, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,496 even as 406 persons have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 2,002.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, the case was reported from East Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed of the 406 new cases, 304 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 56 West Garo Hills, 16 Ri Bhoi, 14 West Jaintia Hills, 6 West Khasi Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 3 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 2 South Garo Hills, 1 North Garo Hills and 1 South West Khasi Hills.
He said that 185 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 143 are from East Khasi Hills, 22 West Garo Hills, 14 Ri Bhoi, 4 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 1 South West Khasi Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 88, 141 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,002 are active cases, 84,643 recovered and 1,496 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,377 followed by West Garo Hills 277, Ri Bhoi 125, West Jaintia Hills 63, East Jaintia Hills 39, West Khasi Hills 30, Eastern West Khasi Hills 18, South Garo Hills 17, South West Khasi Hills 16, South West Garo Hills 15, East Garo Hills 13 and North Garo Hills 12.
