Meghalaya observed Martyr’s Day
Meghlaya joined the rest of the country to observed Martyr’s Day on January 30 to marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
This year nation observed 74th Martyr’s Day or Shaheed Diwas. The day is also observed to pays homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to secure freedom for India from the oppressive British regime.
Chief Secretary RV Suchiang led the gathering in paying floral tribute to the statue of the Mahatma at the premises of the Meghalaya (Civil) Secretariat, Rilang Building, Shillong.
Senior State Government officials took part in a two minutes silence in memory of those who laid down their lives for India’s freedom.
