Meghalaya: Old Baitbari Bazaar in West Garo Hills declared as Containment Zone
District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Ram Singh has declared Old Baitbari Bazaar as containment zone after two shopkeepers were tested COVID-19 positive during Random Testing today.
The District Magistrate in an order issued has restricted unregulated entry and exit movement of person/ public into the containment area and inhabitants within the Containment areas shall not move out.
“There has been recent high risk and low risk contact with the COVID-19 positive cases, vulnerable and affected
areas require aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of general public against any possible spread of COVID-19.” the order said.
All the inhabitants within the containment areas shall strictly remain inside their home.
The order also states that no gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms shall be allowed.
No Social, Political, Religious, Economies activities are allowed.
All the shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately.
The supply of essential and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by the District Administration.
All Govemment & Private Institutions located within the boundary of the containment areas is hereby closed forthwith, till further Orders.
Shri Jude Rangku T. Sangma, MCS, Executive Magistrate & BDO, Selsella shall be the supervising Officer which are declared as Containment areas under Bhaitbari PHC.
This order will not apply to health workers and essential workers.
Any violation of this order shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and I.P.C.
“Contact tracing is going on in other containment zones. After contact tracing is completed by IDSP team under Magistrate the area will be denotified,” DC West Garo Hills said.
