Meghalaya: one more dies of COVID-19, 137 recovers
One more person has died of COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 80 on Saturday.
59-year-old Limatoshi of Nongrimbah Laitumkhrah was declared brought dead at Bethany Hospital on Friday night and later tested positive for COVID-19, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said.
“The cause of death was unknown but the deceased has comorbidities of type 2 diabetes and hypertension,” he said.
The state has also recorded recovery of 137 COVID-19 patients and 81 new cases on Saturday.
The new cases include 42 from East Khasi Hills district, 13 West Garo Hills district, 13 West Jaintia Hills district, 7 West Khasi Hills district, 2 East Garo Hills district, 2 Ri Bhoi district, 1 East Jaintia Hills district and 1 East Garo Hills district.
Out of the 137 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 95 are from East Khasi Hills, 25 West Garo Hills, 7 West Jaintia Hills, 3 North Garo Hills, 2 South West Garo Hills, 2 West Khasi Hills, 1 each in East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi.
He said 7,228 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.
The state has detected a total of 8,855 COVID-19 out of which 1,574 are active cases, 7,228 recovered and 80 deaths.
East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 991 infections, that include 26 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 965 civilians, followed by West Garo Hills 166 and Ri Bhoi 159.
In the other districts, 86 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 52 in East Garo Hills, 52 in West Khasi Hills, 31 in South Garo Hills, 18 in North Garo Hills, 13 in East Jaintia Hills, 3 in South West Garo Hills and 3 in South West Khasi Hills.
Over 585 persons are undergoing home quarantine and isolation while 471 persons are under institutional quarantine.
“Till date, swab samples of 1,90,284 persons have been tested of which 1,84,480 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 51,554 entrants from outside the state.
