Meghalaya: One more dies of COVID-19, death toll at 147
Sixty-five year old man died due to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 147 in the state.
Nurul Amin from Nagoan, Assam was brought to the emergency of NEIGRIHMS on January 27. He was tested positive for COVID-19, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said on Tuesday.
“However, he passed away on January 30 due to cardiogenic shock. The antecedent cause is due to acute coronary syndrome and COVID positive status and hypertension as contributing cause,” he said.
The state has also recorded 4 new COVID-19 cases and 9 recoveries on Tuesday.
Dr War said the new cases include 3 in East Khasi Hills district and 1 in West Khasi Hills district.
He also informed that 9 patients who have recovered from the viral infection include 8 from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from East Jaintia Hills district.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,768 COVID-19 cases out of which 56 are active cases, 13,565 recovered and 147 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has 45 active cases, Ri Bhoi 4, West Khasi Hills 4, West Jaintia Hills 2 and South West Garo Hills 1.
On the other hand, of the 3,38,615 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 3,24,847 were tested negative for the virus even as 8 persons are in institutional quarantine and 48 under home quarantine.
There are 88,535 entrants from outside the state.
