Meghalaya: one more dies of COVID-19, toll at 76
One more died due to COVID-19 taking the death toll in the state to 76, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed on Tuesday.
Dr War said the state has also recorded 57 new cases and 105 new recoveries on Tuesday.
The new cases include 26 from East Khasi Hills district, 17 West Garo Hills district, 3 East Garo Hills district, 3 South Garo Hills district, 3 West Jaintia Hills district, 2 East Jaintia Hills district, 1 North Garo Hills district, 1 Ri Bhoi district and 1 South West Garo Hills.
Out of the 105 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 66 are from East Khasi Hills, 15 Ri Bhoi, 14 West Jaintia Hills, 6 West Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills and 2 South West Khasi Hills.
He said 6,497COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.
The state has detected a total of 8,593 COVID-19 out of which 2,020 are active cases, 6,497 recovered and 76 deaths.
East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 1,322 infections, that include 27 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 1,295 civilians, followed by Ri Bhoi 234 and West Garo Hills 188.
In the other districts, 73 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 51 in East Garo Hills, 49 in West Khasi Hills, 36 in South Garo Hills, 26 in North Garo Hills, 17 in East Jaintia Hills, 13 in South West Khasi Hills and 11 in South West Garo Hills.
Over 934 persons are undergoing home quarantine and isolation while 543 persons are under institutional quarantine.
“Till date, swab samples of 1,89,783 persons have been tested of which 1,81,190 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 50,407 new entrants from outside the state.
