Meghalaya: One more dies of COVID-19, toll rises to 101
A 60-year-old man died due to COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 101 on Monday.
Sumikson D Sangma, a resident of Cheranggre, Tura passed away at the Tura civil hospital on Sunday evening. He was tested positive for COVID-19 on being admitted the same day, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said.
He said the patient was also diagnosed of type 2 diabetes mellitus, COVID-19 with hypertension with hypoxic encephalopathy.
Dr War also informed that the state has recorded 41 new positive cases and 78 new recoveries on Monday.
The new cases include 17 from East Khasi Hills district, 14 West Garo Hills district, 6 Ri Bhoi district, 3 South West Garo Hills district and 1 North Garo Hills district.
He said 78 persons who recovered from the viral infection include 24 from East Khasi Hills, 17 Ri Bhoi, 13 West Garo Hills, 9 East Jaintia Hills, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 4 East Garo Hills, and 2 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 10,706 COVID-19 out of which 933 are active cases, 9,672 recovered and 101 deaths.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 291 positive cases, Ri Bhoi 281, West Garo Hills 94, East Garo Hills 91, West Jaintia Hills 46, East Jaintia Hills 28, South Garo Hills 34, West Khasi Hills 30, South West Garo Hills 25, North Garo Hills 12 and South West Khasi Hills 1.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,20,717 persons have been tested of which 2,10,011 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 59,271 entrants from outside the state.
