Meghalaya Police celebrated Children’s Day
The 6th Battalion Meghalaya Police, Umran; Police Training School and Meghalaya Police Academy, Umran jointly celebrated Children’s Day on Saturday with around 200 children.
Organized in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority and Faith Foundation, Shillong, the theme of the celebration is “Back To School – Safety & Security”.
The police personnel of 6th BN MLP and PTS/MPA, Umran re-lived their school going days by wearing their old school uniforms and interacting with the visiting children.
The aim behind this celebration is to motivate the children to stay in school and complete their education. Further to encourage the children who have dropped out from school to go back to school and complete their education. And also to ensure all round safety and security of the children be it physical, mental, psychological, social, economic, safety and security.
The programme started at 09:00 AM in the morning where the invitees (children) interacted with the police personnel through exhibitions about the police department, fire safety, communication equipment of the police, awareness on crimes against women and children, health education as well as exhibition stall set up by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority and Faith Foundation, Shillong.
There were competitions for the visiting children followed by an entertainment programme where the Meghalaya Police Cultural Troupe performed songs and dances for the children. The programme ended with guest appearances and performances from the visiting children and prize distribution.
