Meghalaya police issues advisory against fraudsters posing as senior govt officials

The state police on Thursday issued an advisory requesting the public not to fall prey to fraudsters posing as senior government officials.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem informed that complaints have been received from various people regarding imposters/fraudsters posing as Heads of Department/Senior Government officials/Head of Government etc who are sending messages through WhatsApp to various people and asking them to purchase Amazon gift cards of Rs 10,000 value and to email the gift card to an email address [email protected]

He said the public are advised not to respond to such messages and to inform the nearest Police Station/Out Post/ Beat House immediately if they receive such a message.
