Meghalaya police launches COVID-19 fake news verification portal

Meghalaya police have launched COVID-19 fake news verification portal where public can verify the authenticity of news and articles pertaining to coronavirus disease, which are being shared or circulated in social media and other medium.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai in a statement issued on Saturday said the link (URL) to the portal has been hosted in the department’s website http://www.megpolice.gov.in under the page tab COVID-19 Fake News.

He said information seeker on successfully completing the application will received an acknowledgement as well as short message service (SMS) indicating the completion of the application.

After the information has been verified the applicant will be intimated regarding the authenticity of the news or information through SMS and through email.
