Meghalaya Police rescued a woman from New Delhi
A woman from Shillong was recently rescued after she was physically tortured and wrongly confined by her co-worker in Meerut.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A), Gabriel K Iangrai on Sunday said a written FIR was received at Madanrting police station that one woman, who had left Shillong on January 7, for New Delhi to work in a private company has been physically tortured and wrongly confined by a co-worker at his hometown in Meerut.
He said accordingly, a zero FIR was registered and the same was forwarded to the Superintendent of Police, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh to take legal action against the accused person and also to rescue the victim.
He said it was only after continuous efforts were made by the police team that the victim was rescued and thereafter, was shifted to a shelter home for observation of further legal formalities.
The accused person has also been arrested and two cases have been registered against him under relevant provisions of law.
The AIGP said the involvement of the Crime Branch East Khasi Hills District, Missing Desk, Madanrting Police and the keen interest of the MLA of Nongkrem SaLambor Malniang enabled the prompt rescue of the victim.
