Meghalaya principal secretary found dead in Uzbekistan, CM says his demise is a big loss to the state

The mortal remains of Meghalaya principal secretary in-charge Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Public Works Department (PWD), Syed Md A Razi, who was found dead in a hotel room in Uzbekistan, on Monday will arrived on Tuesday evening.
Informing this, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said, “I am told that his wife, who is an officer in the central government, has gone to Uzbekistan to bring back his remains and they should be reaching this evening and the family will go ahead with different steps to complete the last rituals and other formalities that have to be done and that will be tomorrow.”
“Preliminary information received was that it is a heart attack and it happened in his sleep most likely and they found him in the morning…,” the CM said.
Terming Razi’s demise as a big loss for Meghalaya, Sangma said, “I want to share with you that Mr Razi, who was an official from the railway services had come on deputation to Meghalaya four years back and seeing the kind of capacity he had, the then additional chief secretary, who has now chief secretary DP Wahlang had proposed and suggested that he could be a good candidate to lead the Jal Jeevan Mission as a Mission Director and we appointed him as Mission Director at that point in time and he executed things very well and under his leadership, the JJM reached the heights we could have never imagine and we were able to really move fast. Challenges are always there but overall if you look at the performance, things were very positive and very satisfactory.”
The CM further informed that the government of India on his request had extended Razi’s deputation in Meghalaya for one more year.
“I requested the minister for railways to extend by one more year (as provision was there) and we just received last week the communication that his extension has been agreed and that he can stay in Meghalaya for one more year so that we can complete the JJM and all the problems that are there we can resolve them,” he added.
