Meghalaya records 3 COVID-19 deaths, 505 new cases
The state on Saturday recorded three COVID-19 related deaths pushing the death toll to 817.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, these include one each in Ri Bhoi district, South West Garo Hills district and West Garo Hills district.
He said the state also detected 505 new cases. These include 148 in East Khasi Hills, 92 West Jaintia Hills, 83 Ri Bhoi, 63 West Garo Hills, 44 North Garo Hills, 23 East Garo Hills, 16 West Khasi Hills, 11 South West Garo Hills, 9 East Jaintia Hills, and 6 South West Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed that 499 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 173 are from East Khasi Hills, 78 West Garo Hills, 75 Ri Bhoi, 36 East Garo Hills, 25 West Jaintia Hills, 23 West Khasi Hills, 21 North Garo Hills, 18 South Garo Hills, 11 South West Garo Hills and 8 East Jaintia HIlls.
So far, the state has detected a total of 47,985 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,668 are active cases, 42,500 recovered and 817 deaths.
With 1,378 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Jaintia Hills with 707 cases and Ri Bhoi 677 cases.
There are 617 cases in West Garo Hills, 271 East Garo Hills, 242 North Garo Hills, 170 South West Garo Hills, 225 South West Khasi Hills, 141 West Khasi Hills, 131 South Garo Hills and 109 East Jaintia Hills.
