Meghalaya records 305 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths
Six more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 on Sunday taking the death toll in the state to 733.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district.
The state has also recorded 305 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 4,623.
Dr War said the new cases include 144 in East Khasi Hills, 48 West Garo Hills, 20 North Garo Hills, 19 South West Garo Hills, 19 West Jaintia Hills, 16 East Garo Hills, 14 Ri Bhoi, 11 West Garo Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills and 3 South Garo Hills.
He also informed that as many as 547 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 270 are from East Khasi Hills, 71 West Garo Hills, 43 Ri Bhoi, 33 East Garo Hills, 26 South West Garo Hills, 25 West Jaintia Hills, 22 South Garo Hills, 21 North Garo Hills, 16 South West Khasi Hills, 15 West Khasi Hills and 5 East Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 41,906 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,623 are active cases, 36,550 recovered and 733 deaths.
With 1,662 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 760 cases and 618 West Jaintia Hills.
There are 339 cases in Ri Bhoi, 249 South West Khasi Hills, 233 South West Garo Hills, 226 North Garo Hills, 114 East Jaintia Hills, 172 East Garo Hills, 156 West Khasi Hills and 94 South Garo Hills.
