Meghalaya records 336 new COVID cases, 8 deaths
The state on Monday recorded eight COVID-19 related deaths pushing the death toll to 827.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 7 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from West Jaintia Hills district.
He said the state also detected 336 new cases. These include 159 in East Khasi Hills, 49 West Jaintia Hills, 48 Ri Bhoi, 18 West Garo Hills, 15 East Jaintia Hills, 14 South West Khasi Hills, 13 West Khasi Hills, 11 North Garo Hills, 6 East Garo Hills and 3 South Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 508 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 147 are from East Khasi Hills, 105 West Garo Hills, 95 West Jaintia Hills, 52 Ri Bhoi, 27 North Garo Hills, 21 South West Garo Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, 12 East Jaintia Hills, 11 South Garo Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 48,783 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,378 are active cases, 43,578 recovered and 827 deaths.
With 1,349 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Jaintia Hills with 688 cases and Ri Bhoi 664 cases.
There are 510 cases in West Garo Hills, 248 East Garo Hills, 243 North Garo Hills, 136 South West Garo Hills, 186 South West Khasi Hills, 148 West Khasi Hills, 122 East Jaintia Hills and 84 South Garo Hills.
