Meghalaya records 406 new COVID-19 cases, 8 deaths
Eight more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 250 in the state on Wednesday.
Of this, 7 are from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from Ri Bhoi district, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
The state has also recorded 406 new COVID-19 cases, taking the number of active cases in the state to 3,381.
Dr War said new cases include 226 in East Khasi Hills, 48 West Garo Hills, 38 West Khasi Hills, 24 East Jaintia Hills, 19 South West Garo Hills, 16 Ri Bhoi, 13 West Jaintia Hills, 11 South Garo Hills, 6 East Garo Hills and 5 North Garo Hills.
He informed that of 314 patients who have recovered from the viral infection, 158 are from East Khasi Hills, 47 West Khasi Hills, 37 West Garo Hills, 31 Ri Bhoi, 20 West Jaintia Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 5 South West Garo Hills, 4 South West Khasi Hills, 2 South Garo Hills, 1 East Garo Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 20,985 COVID-19 cases out of which 3,381 are active cases, 17,354 recovered and 250 deaths.
With 1,968 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 442 cases.
There are 291 cases in West Garo Hills, 160 East Jaintia Hills, 123 West Khasi Hills, 123 West Jaintia Hills, 110 South West Garo Hills, 64 South Garo Hills, 49 East Garo Hills, 40 North Garo Hills and 11 South West Khasi Hills.
On the other hand, of the 4,95,358 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,74,373 were tested negative for the virus even as 745 persons are in institutional quarantine and 2,636 under home quarantine.
There are 1,17,495 entrants from outside the state.
27,420 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 19,231 had received the second dose, while 64,180 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 26,170 got the second dose as on Wednesday.
Moreover, 2,06,058 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 26,428 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the state.
