Meghalaya records 500 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths
The state on Tuesday recorded 13 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 968 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 7 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 each from West Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district and 1 from West Garo Hills district
He said the state also detected 500 new cases. These include 148 in East Khasi Hills, 108 West Garo Hills, 36 Ri Bhoi, 42 West Jaintia Hills, 24 West Khasi Hills, 24 South West Garo Hills, 21 North Garo Hills, 16 East Garo Hills, 15 South Garo Hills and 8 East Jaintia Hills.
Dr War also informed that 476 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 140 are from East Khasi Hills, 86 West Garo Hills, 30 Ri Bhoi, 97 West Jaintia Hills, 31 North Garo Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 31 West Khasi Hills, 23 East Garo Hills, 9 South Garo Hills, 17 South West Khasi Hills and 6 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 58,275 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,044 are active cases, 53,263 recovered and 968 deaths.
With 1,195 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 935 cases and Ri Bhoi with 591 cases.
There are 419 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 215 South West Khasi Hills, 154 North Garo Hills, 150 West Khasi Hills, 124 East Garo Hills, 104 South West Garo Hills, 91 South Garo Hills and 66 East Jaintia Hills.
