Meghalaya records 558 new cases, 21 deaths
The state on Friday recorded 21 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,009 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 12 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 each from West Khasi Hills district, West Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district, and 1 each from Ri Bhoi district, South Garo Hills district and South West Garo Hills district.
He said the state also detected 558 new cases. These include 213 in East Khasi Hills, 85 West Garo Hills, 52 Ri Bhoi, 115 West Jaintia Hills, 24 West Khasi Hills, 4 South West Garo Hills, 7 North Garo Hills, 11 East Garo Hills, 7 South Garo Hills and 5 East Jaintia Hills.
Dr War also informed that 411 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 136 are from East Khasi Hills, 148 West Garo Hills, 11 Ri Bhoi, 30 West Jaintia Hills, 20 North Garo Hills, 8 West Khasi Hills, 11 South West Garo Hills, 16 South Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills, 10 East Jaintia Hills and 19 East Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 59,904 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,539 are active cases, 54,356 recovered and 1,005 deaths.
With 1,426 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 1,022 cases and Ri Bhoi with 638 cases.
There are 436 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 279 South West Khasi Hills, 150 North Garo Hills, 208 West Khasi Hills, 125 East Garo Hills, 97 South West Garo Hills, 95 South Garo Hills and 63 East Jaintia Hills.
