Meghalaya records 59 new cases, 2 deaths
The state on Friday recorded two more COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,443 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, each case was reported from South West Khasi Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 59 new COVID-19 cases. These include 45 in East Khasi Hills, 4 West Khasi Hills, 4 West Jaintia Hills, 3 Ri Bhoi, 2 West Garo Hills and 1 South West Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed that 94 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 45 are from East Khasi Hills, 36 West Khasi Hills, 5 West Garo Hills, 4 West Jaintia Hills, 2 Ri Bhoi and 1 East Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 83,269 COVID-19 cases out of which 698 are active cases, 81,128 recovered and 1,443 deaths.
With 454 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 135 cases and West Jaintia Hills 44.
There are 33 in Ri Bhoi, 15 West Garo Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills, 4 South West Garo Hills 3 East Jaintia Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills and 1 South Garo Hills.
