Meghalaya records 65 new COVID cases, 1 death
The state on Tuesday recorded one more COVID-19 related death, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,439 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, the case was reported from East Garo Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 65 new COVID-19 cases. These include 43 in East Khasi Hills, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 6 West Khasi Hills, 2 West Garo Hills, 2 Ri Bhoi, 1 East Garo Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 101 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 55 are from East Khasi Hills, 22 West Khasi Hills, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 8 Ri Bhoi, 6 West Garo Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 83,079 COVID-19 cases out of which 740 are active cases, 80,900 recovered and 1,439 deaths.
With 474 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 144 cases and West Jaintia Hills 51.
There are 36 in Ri Bhoi, 16 West Garo Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 2 South West Garo Hills and 2 South Garo Hills.
