Meghalaya records 809 new COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths
Twelve more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 taking the death toll in the state to 524 on Thursday.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 11 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 in West Jaintia Hills district.
The state has also recorded 809 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of active cases to 8,255.
Dr War said the new cases include 419 in East Khasi Hills, 109 West Jaintia Hills, 63 South West Garo Hills, 59 West Garo Hills, 50 West Khasi Hills, 46 Ri Bhoi, 26 East Garo Hills, 17 South West Khasi Hills, 11 East Jaintia Hills and 9 North Garo Hills.
He also informed that as many as 597 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 429 are from East Khasi Hills, 59 Ri Bhoi, 23 West Garo Hills, 21 East Jaintia Hills, 18 North Garo Hills, 18 West Jaintia Hills, 9 West Khasi Hills, 8 East Garo Hills, 7 South West Garo Hills and 5 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 33,104 COVID-19 cases out of which 8,255 are active cases, 24,325 recovered and 524 deaths.
With 4,214 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 1,225 cases.
There are 656 cases in West Garo Hills, 619 West Jaintia Hills, 433 South West Garo Hills, 227 East Jaintia Hills, 209 South West Khasi Hills, 200 West Khasi Hills, 173 North Garo Hills, 152 East Garo Hills and 147 South Garo Hills.
On the other hand, of the 5,57,432 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 5,24,328 were tested negative for the virus even as 1,286 persons are in institutional quarantine and 6,969 under home quarantine.
There are 1,20,180 entrants from outside the state.
29,399 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 19,480 had received the second dose, while 83,611 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 26,480 got the second dose as on Thursday.
Moreover, 2,66,665 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 28,259 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the state.
