Meghalaya records 83 new COVID cases, 2 deaths
The state on Saturday recorded two more COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,434 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, one each was reported from East Khasi Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 83 new COVID-19 cases. These include 51 in East Khasi Hills, 26 West Khasi Hills, 3 Ri Bhoi, 2 West Jaintia Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 97 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 54 are from West Khasi Hills, 20 East Khasi Hills, 13 West Jaintia Hills, 3 West Garo Hills, 3 Ri Bhoi, 2 South West Khasi Hills, 1 South Garo Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 82,898 COVID-19 cases out of which 877 are active cases, 80,587 recovered and 1,434 deaths.
With 507 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 233 cases and West Jaintia Hills 56.
There are 37 in Ri Bhoi, 18 West Garo Hills, 9 South West Khasi Hills, 5 East Garo Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 1 South West Garo Hills and 1 South Garo Hills.
