Meghalaya records highest single-day of 900 recoveries, 20 deaths
Twenty more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 taking the death toll in the state to 544 on Friday.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 17 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 each in West Jaintia Hills district and Ri Bhoi district.
The state has also recorded 731 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of active cases to 8,025.
Dr War said the new cases include 346 in East Khasi Hills, 147 Ri Bhoi 69 West Garo Hills, 32 West Jaintia Hills, 27 West Khasi Hills, 27 South West Garo Hills, 27 East Jaintia Hills, 21 South West Khasi Hills, 15 East Garo Hills, 11 South Garo Hills and 9 North Garo Hills.
He also informed that as many as 941 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 661 from East Khasi Hills, 70 West Garo Hills, 61 Ri Bhoi, 46 South West Garo Hills, 26 East Jaintia Hills, 23 West Khasi Hills, 22 East Garo Hills, 12 South Garo Hills, 10 North Garo Hills, 7 West Jaintia Hills and 3 South West Khasi Hills.
When asked, Dr War said, “At the same time we are getting the infection at the same time there is healing and this brings hope.”
Stating that the situation is slowly improving, the DHS said, “We are positive and hope that the situation will further improve but citizens should understand that if they strictly follow the protocols, we will be able to avoid lockdowns.”
So far, the state has detected a total of 33,835 COVID-19 cases out of which 8,025 are active cases, 25,266 recovered and 544 deaths.
With 3,884 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 1,310 cases.
There are 654 cases in West Garo Hills, 641 West Jaintia Hills, 414 South West Garo Hills, 228 East Jaintia Hills, 227 South West Khasi Hills, 204 West Khasi Hills, 172 North Garo Hills, 146 South Garo Hills and 145 East Garo Hills.
