Meghalaya recruited 28 rural development officers for aiding BDOs
With a vision of proper and timely supervision, implementation and monitoring of all rural development both central and state, the Meghalaya Community & Rural Development Department (MC&RDD) decided to create the post of Junior Rural Development Officer or JRDO in 2019 and called for advertisement for recruitment of 28 such officers.
The recruitment of such officer is presently under 3(f) rules of Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) pending permanent recruitment by the said Commission while the pay scale is from Rs.43000 to Rs.97000 plus other allowances.
Upon recruitment, the officers, to be designated as the JRDOs will be initially posted in the C&RD Blocks under the Block Development officers.
They are expected to supervise and provide guidance to the field functionaries, and possess
an ability to manage Human Resources for better delivery of the rural development programmes.
The JRDO are to carry out extensive tours and night halts in villages for community mobilisation, measuring the performance of various programmes / schemes by deploying systematic monitoring tools, identifying gap and reporting regularly to the district and state authorities are a part of the service requirements.
After the conduct of all interview, the MCRDD declared the result for recruitment of 28 JRDO on 27/7/2022.
Inorder to acquaint the newly recruited JRDO on their duties and responsibilities, the Community & Rural Development Department and State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in collaboration with Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) organised an Orientation Programme for the newly recruited Junior Rural Development Officers (JRDOs) at Yojana Bhavan, Main Secretariat, Shillong on Monday.
Inaugurating the programme, Chief Secretary, D P Wahlang informed their main job is to interact with the public on the ground and urged them to be cautious, sensitive and be respectful to people’s opinions and to interact with them in a language they can understand.
Meghalaya has a large rural economy, Wahlang said the officer’s contribution will make a direct impact on the GSDP of the state.
The Chief Secretary encouraged the officers to move forward and take decisions to ensure that people’s lives are positively impacted, without fear of failure.
He also highlighted the need for financial planning for the junior officers so as to have secure savings when they retire.
