Meghalaya reports 21 new COVID-19 cases, 18 recovery
Twenty-one more persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 while 18 others have recovered from the infection on Tuesday.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said with the new detection, the total active cases in the state has gone up to 416.
The 21 fresh cases include 13 in East Khasi Hills (1 Air Force, 2 CRPF, 1 BSF & 9 others), 7 in Ri Bhoi and 1 in West Jaintia Hills, he said.
“We also have as many as 18 new recoveries, taking the total recoveries from the virus to 70,” Dr War said.
He informed this include 14 BSF troopers, 2 from West Garo Hills, an SBI branch manager from East Jaintia Hills and 1 from the Air Force.
East Khasi Hills has over 355 active cases that include 266 BSF troopers, 15 armed forces and 74 others.
In Ri Bhoi district where areas bordering Assam have been declared as ‘containment zone’, the number of people infected by COVID-19 has also increased to 42.
There are 12 active cases in West Garo Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills, 1 in South West Garo Hills, 1 in East Jaintia Hills, 1 in East Garo Hills, and 1 in North Garo Hills.
