Meghalaya reports 60 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 2,343
Sixty more persons, including 44 civilians have tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total active cases in the state to 1,284.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said 31 cases, including 27 civilians and 4 Armed Forces personnel, were detected from East Khasi Hills district, 9 civilians from East Garo Hills district, 9 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers from West Garo Hills distrct, 5 civilians and 1 AF personnel from Ri Bhoi district, 4 civilians, including two returnees from East Jaintia Hills district and one from South Garo Hills district.
He said the twenty-seven civilians, who tested positive in Shillong, include 26 high risk contacts of positive cases and one returnee at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) while the 9 cases in East Garo Hills are from the random sampling at Rongjeng bazar and those in Ri Bhoi include one influenza like illness (ILI) case, two high risk contacts and two returnees.
Dr War also informed that the total recoveries in the state has increased to 1,049 after 14 more patients have recovered from the viral infection on Sunday. These include 8 BSF troopers from West Garo Hills, 2 from East Jaintia Hills, 2 from Ri Bhoi and one each from South West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills.
The state has so far recorded a total of 2,343 positive COVID-19 cases of which 1,284 are active and 10 have died due to the viral infection.
East Khasi Hills is the worst hit district in the state with 920 positive cases, that include 648 civilians and 272 Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces, followed by West Garo Hills with 137 cases of which 58 are civilians and 79 are AF/PF personnel, 80 cases in East Garo Hills.
In the other districts, Ri Bhoi has 56 cases, 44 in West Khasi Hills, 17 in East Jaintia Hills, 14 in South Garo Hills, 12 in North Garo Hills and 2 each in South West Garo HIlls and West Jaintia Hills
