Meghalaya reports five new COVID-19 cases
Five more persons have been tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday taking the number of active cases to 572.
Health Minister Alexander Laloo Hek told reporters that the five new cases include 2 armed forces personnel from East Khasi Hills, 2 BSF troopers from West Garo Hills and 1 civilian from Ri Bhoi.
He said of the 572 active cases, 246 are BSF, 291 are civilians and 35 are armed forces personnel.
“A total of 207 patients have recovered from the infection while five have died so far,” Hek informed.
As of Wednesday, a total of 35,198 samples were tested of which 24,239 were found to be negative while test results of 175 (115 at Pasteur Institute, Shillong and 60 in Tura) are awaited.

Hi Team Syllad.. Can you guys please forward a message to our Honble CM SHRI Conrad Sangma regarding this ongoing pandemic so many returnees are coming over at their respective Camps and Headquarters and units and I’m talking about armed forces Air force and other Armed forces Units.. It’s high time so I think its time to put a effort in testing of these returnees from defense forces cus while staying in quarenteine they turn out to be Corona Positive and its very difficult now who is carrying the virus so please set up a testing camp for defense campus and areas and make it a priority recently three person has turned out to be Corona Positive and they knew it after so long so it’s very difficult so please set up a testing camp before this virus gets out of control… Thank you
