Meghalaya: Ribhoi registered first COVID positive case
A senior citizen has been tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
With the fresh case, the total number of active cases has increased to 26.
“An elderly citizen who had come from Ri Bhoi District has tested positive for COVID19. The person was isolated on arrival and is presently in Shillong. Person is stable and under supervision.
Total active cases 26,” Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said in his Twitter handle.
When speaking to reporters, Sangma informed that the person has no travel history. “However, contact tracing is also being done,” he said.
Asked on community transmission, the chief minister, “Let us not conclude to that…I appeal to citizens not to panic.”
It may be mentioned here that the first COVID-19 victim was a 69-year-old senior doctor and founder of Bethany hospital (L) Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang.
