Meghalaya sends team to 67th National School Games for Basketball
The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya Department, announces the participation of a state team in the 67th National School Games 2024 for Basketball, taking place from April 25th to April 30th, 2024, in Gurugram, Haryana. This event is organized by the School Games Federation of India.
These games aim to provide a platform for identifying sporting talent and promoting the holistic development of school children, encompassing mental, physical, and social aspects. A total of 12 athletes, along with 2 officials, have been chosen to represent Meghalaya in the under-17 Boys Championship at Gurugram, Haryana.
The selection process, conducted by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, involved extensive publicity for the trials held at NEIGRIHMS on April 10th, 2024.
All selected athletes are residents of Meghalaya, attending various schools across the state. Among the 12 athletes, seven hail from East Khasi Hills, one from North Garo Hills, one from Eastern West Khasi Hills, one from East Jaintia Hills, one from East Garo Hills, and one from Ri Bhoi District.
Accompanying the team are Yolinda Hynniewta, Coach and Renaldy Jyrwa, Manager. The Directorate extends its best wishes to the athletes for a successful participation.
