Meghalaya showcases inter-departmental convergence success at National workshop

In a significant recognition of its innovative approach to addressing critical issues in Food, Nutrition, Health, and Wash (FNHW) interventions; Meghalaya was selected to present its best practices for Inter-Departmental Convergence at a workshop organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India. The event is attended by representatives from over 19 states and took place in Bangalore Karnataka.

The Chief Operating Officer of Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS), Ronald Kynta and his team apprised the status of the FNHW status in the state of Meghalaya highlighting the health and nutrition indicators which includes Infant and Maternal Mortality rates of the state. He emphasised that through inter-departmental convergence between Health Department, Social Welfare Department and Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society by leveraging the Self-Help Group in the State, the indicators have improved. Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Mission is adopting PDIA (Problem Driven Iterative Adaptation) to drive all action by building local level stewardship through the Self-Help Group network.

The workshop is a part of a two-day programme Sangathan, Swasthya, Samriddhi: Working towards enhanced health and quality of life for members of women collectives. Dr Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil Minister of Medical, Education and Skill Development Karnataka was the Chief Guest and other dignitaries from the Ministry of Rural Development and Government of Karnataka attended the programme.
