Meghalaya | Task Force to mitigate impact of COVID-19 pandemic on economy
The Chief Minister’s Task Force on Economy for a Post-Covid Meghalaya was constituted for tackling economic disruptions in the state due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“To mitigate the impact of the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 on the economy of the State, the Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to constitute the Chief Minister’s Task Force on Economy for a Post-COVID Meghalaya’ with immediate effect,” a notification issued by the Chief Secretary MS Rao on May 4.
The terms and reference of the Task Force will be to formulate clear, sector-specific strategies for tackling economic disruptions due to COVID-19 in the State of Meghalaya.
It will also be to identify new opportunities and fundamental sectoral reforms (including extensive use of technology) for promoting growth in a post COVID world.
The task force will also lay out a clear economic road map for Meghalaya for the immediate period (2020-21) as well as the medium-term (2021-25).
The notification also informed that the task force will also have the following committees which include apex committee, executive committee and working groups.
The apex committee will be headed by CM Conrad K Sangma as chairman and all cabinet ministers as members.
The working groups will be headed by senior government officials.
The terms and reference of the working group shall be as follows:- to identify immediate sectoral interventions that can generate maximum impact in terms of employment and livelihood need to be identified within two weeks, to identify critical policy reforms in their respective sector, to identify sectoral strategy for the immediate and medium-term need, to review the existing schemes and proposing rationalization for better utilization of resources.
The initial presentations of the various working groups will be placed before the executive committee, which will also be headed by the CM from May 11 onwards.
