The state government has decided to continue the ban on inter-state movement till the end of June.
“Inter-state movement is still not allowed till the end of this month,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters after a review meeting held on Monday.
He said issues related to tourism in the state were also discussed during the meeting keeping in mind the livelihood activities of the local people. “However, we are yet to take a decision on this matter as we are waiting for reports from all deputy commissioners,” Tynsong added.
The review meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
Meanwhile, sources attending the meeting have informed that the government has also decided to introduce technology for effectively preventing the spread of COVID-19 at the inter-state and international borders.
“Technology will be set up at the entry and exit points to closely monitor the movement of transit vehicles. Number of persons in each of the transit vehicle will be registered and in case of any violation, action will be taken,” the government sources said.
