Meghalaya to expand coverage of PMAY-Urban 2.0 to four new towns

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced the expansion of PMAY-Urban 2.0 coverage to four new towns of the State namely Sohra, Khliehriat, Ampati, and Mawkyrwat from 2025-26 while announcing the allocation of Rs. 70 Crore for the Chief Minister’s Housing Assistance Program.
Informing this during the presentation of budget, Sangma said that under the PMAY-G, the Government achieved an impressive 73% completion rate, with 1.37 lakh houses already built out of the target of 1.88 lakh while in 2025-26, the government will complete the remaining 50,000 houses, ensuring that every eligible family has a pucca house.
Sangma said that with the five-year extension of PMAY-G, the Government hope to provide housing to all unregistered beneficiaries who were previously left out of the scheme and in the next 3 years, they will be able to achieve saturation of housing in the rural areas of the State while adding that additional amenities like toilet, electricity and gas connections will also be ensured for all PMAY-G beneficiaries.
