Meghalaya to hold 83rd Ntl TT Championship from April 18
Meghalaya is all set to host the 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022 from April 18 to 25.
Announcing this on Thursday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022 will be one of the biggest tournaments that Meghalaya has hosted till date and this tournament will be held in the SAI Indoor Training Centre at NEHU Shillong.
“I will like to take this opportunity to officially announce that Meghalaya will be hosting the 83rd national table tennis championship 2022 and this is one of the biggest tournaments that Meghalaya has hosted till date among many others and in this championship around 450 players from across the country will take part” said Sangma.
The tournament will also coincide keeping in mind the 50 years of the golden jubilee celebration of Meghalaya and it is expected that around 650 participants including 450 top players, coaches and supporting staff from all over the country will be part in this championship.
He added that this is the only second time that the National Table Tennis Championship is being hosted in the Northeast and the state is in process to arrange approximately 300 rooms for officials and players who will be part of this tournament.
“The SAI indoor training center at NEHU Shillong is expected to accommodate close to 20 tables to make sure that this tournament kicks off smoothly” he added.
The chief minister also informed that the deputy chief minister of Haryana who is the president of the Haryana Table Tennis Association will grace the inaugural function besides many top state government officials from different parts of India.
When asked on the expenditure that the state government will spend for the tournament, Sangma said that the total cost of this tournament is about Rs. 1.5 crores.
