Meghalaya witnesses drop in new COVID-19 cases
The state has witnessed a drop in the daily COVID-19 tally on Monday. The detection of only five new cases was the lowest in December even as more patients have recovered from the viral infection.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the five cases include 3 from East Khasi Hills district, 1 West Garo Hills district and 1 Ri Bhoi district.
Those tested positive also include 1 armed force/paramilitary force, 2 Nongrim Hills cluster, 1 screening purpose and 1 returnee.
Of the 72 patients who recovered from COVID-19, Dr War said 57 are from East Khasi Hills district, 8 West Jaintia Hills district, 3 South Garo Hills district, 2 Ri Bhoi district, 1 North Garo Hills district and 1 South West Garo Hills district.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,258 COVID-19 cases out of which 432 are active cases, 12,692 recovered and 134 deaths.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 263 positive cases, West Jaintia Hills 78, Ri Bhoi 32, West Garo Hills 28, South West Garo Hills 5, East Garo Hills 10, East Jaintia Hills 3, South Garo Hills 4, West Khasi Hills 5, North Garo Hills 4 and South West Khasi Hills 0.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,80,244 persons have been tested of which 2,66,986 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 74,884 entrants from outside the state.
