Meghalaya youth found dead in Guwahati hotel; drug overdose suspected

The body of a 30-year-old Meghalaya youth was found in a mysterious condition at Hotel Tibetan in Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati on Tuesday.

The body has been identified as Sunny Nongrum, a resident of Mawpun Village under Pynthorunkhrah police station in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

Following the recovery of a drug container and a syringe, police have reasons to believe that the youth died of a drug overdose.

The youth has been in the hotel room since July 27.

The body was sent to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital for a post-mortem.
