A civic action program for observing the International Women’s Day was organized by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Kangthong village, East Khasi Hills on Tuesday.
Under this program, solar lamps were distributed to the local children and public toilets for women besides laundry facilities were built.
Apart from the water tank to store water, community hall and a children’s park were also constructed and it was inaugurated by Alok Bhatacharji, Commandant of Central Police Force 67 Battalion.
Bhattacharjee urged the youth of Meghalaya, especially girls, to join the CRPF and he also informed that like all other central forces, there are many exemptions in CRPF for the tribal people of Northeast India, so the youth of the CRPF here must join.
