Meghalaya’s recovered COVID-19 cases more than active cases: Govt
Due to the surge in the daily recoveries from COVID-19, the active cases in the state have reduced to 1,193 on Tuesday.
A statement issued by the Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the total number of COVID-19 patients recovering from the coronavirus infection has increased to 1235.
This was after seventy-three more patients have recovered on Tuesday, of which 65 are from East Khasi Hills district, 5 from West Garo Hills district and 3 from East Garo Hills district.
The state had recorded the highest daily recoveries on Monday as 113 patients have recuperated from the viral infection.
The statement also informed that the total active cases in the state stood at 1,193, after 72 new cases were detected on Tuesday.
The new cases include 54 from East Khasi Hills, of which 50 are civilians, 2 are BSF troopers and 2 are Armed Forces personnel, 7 from West Garo Hills, 5 from Ri Bhoi, 4 from East Garo Hills and 2 from South Garo Hills.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the state has increased to 12, after two elderly patients, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at the Nazareth hospital and North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital, on Monday.
Of the total active cases in the state, East Khasi Hills is the worst hit district with 841 cases, including 632 civilians and 209 from the armed forces and paramilitary forces, followed by West Garo Hills with 118 cases, 81 cases in East Garo Hills, 60 in Ri Bhoi, 45 in West Khasi Hills, 18 in East Jaintia Hills, 16 in South Garo Hills, 9 in North Garo Hills, 3 in South West Garo Hills and 2 in West Jaintia Hills.
As of Tuesday, a total of 90,477 samples have been tested, of which 87,455 were found to be negative while test results of approximately 582 are awaited. There are 32,842 entrants from the outside till date.
